Abstract
PURPOSE: The sulfonation reaction of a low-reactive olefin bond with internal double with a specific amount of SO3-dioxane complex is conducted in the presence of a specific reaction controller to produce light colored sulfonation product.
CONSTITUTION: The sulfonation of an olefin with internal double bond of formual RCH=ChR' (R is alkyl of 10W29 carbon atoms.. R' is 1W10C alkyl where R + R' = 8W20) is conducted by adding it without dilution by a solvent such as carbon tetrachloride gradually to a mixture containing 1.5W3.0 moles, per mole of the inner olefin. of SO3-dixoane complex calculated as pure SO3, 0.01W0.1 mole of a reaction controller such as monosodium phosphate and/or phosphoric triester and carbon tetrachloride meanwhile the reaction mixture is kept lower than 40°C and then aging. Then the reaction mixture is neutralized is with an excess amount of caustic alkali with succesive alkaline hydrolysis to give the objective compound.
USE: Detergent, emulsifier, dispersant and wetting agent.
