Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the active sludge treating efficiency, by mixing waste water with a magnetic substance and applying an AC or high-frequency magnetic field controllable from the outside to stir the waste water by the magnetically caused movement of the magnetic substance and blowing minute bubbles of air into the water to aerate it.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water W1 is introduced into a treating vessel E. The air AR is supplied through a pipe A10 under the vessel E and injected from bubble ports A11 of an air feed plate so that the minute air bubbles aerate the waste water and convey the produced sludge upward while floating up. A porous plate E7 is provided in the vessel E at its bottom. Magnetic grains M1 are provided in the porous plate E7 so that the magnetic grains are mixed into the waste water E3. The AC or high-frequency magnetic field controllable from the outside is applied to the magnetic grains. The waste water E3 is stirred by the magnetically caused movement of the magnetic substance M1. Therefore, the active sludge treating efficiency is heightened.
