Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a long-sized heat pipe wherein a seamless and jointless high- purity aluminum pipe is used over the whole length thereof, closely arranging a foamed metal as a wick member in the inner circumference thereof so as to improve the airtightness and the bending strength. CONSTITUTION:A foamed metal sheet 12a sent from a supply stand 13 is formed into a cylindrical foamed metal 12 by means of a cylindrical molding rolls 14, and being sent to an aluminum extruder 15. The foamed metal 12 is covered with a high-purity aluminum 11b extruded from the aluminum extruder to yield a high- purity aluminum pipe 11a. The cylindrical foamed metal 12 is closely arranged all over the inner surface of the high-purity aluminum pipe 11a by means of a molded throttle nozzle 16 to yield a high-purity aluminum pipe 11. The high purity aluminum pipe is cut to a predetermined long size, and the inner air thereof is exhausted. Then, the pipe is closed at both ends, and a working liquid is sealed therein to yield a long-sized heat pipe.
