Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the coloring density of an electrochromic element made of transition metal oxide and shorten the coloring-decoloring response time by using a cured or hardened synthetic resin layer contg. a H+ donor as the ionic conductive material layer of the element.
CONSTITUTION: It is desired that an ionic conductive material layer is formed on an electrochromic material layer made of transition metal oxide such as WO3 as follows; a H+ donor such as p-toluene sulfonic acid and a synthetic resin such as epoxy resin are dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone, etc., coated onto the electrochromic material layer, and cured or hardened. The resulting electrochromic element colors to a well recognizable level within about 0.5 sec after applying a voltage.
