Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an empty can treating apparatus, in which empty can are pressed into the form of flat plates, and they are separated into aluminum cans and steel cans with application of shifting magnetic field, whereby it is enabled to treat empty can efficiently and to reuse natural resources. CONSTITUTION:Empty cans are put into pressing machine 14 from inlet 13, in which they are pressed by means of press rollers 15, 16, and then discharged to transport passage 20. The empty cans thus pressed flat are carried to a separating section, where they are turned around drum 23, in which rotary magnets 24 are turned at a high speed. Aluminium cans 30 are thrown away to the front of belt 21 by the force of induction electromagnetic field exerted by the rotary magnetic field and dropped into aluminum-can receiving section 26. Steel cans 5, on the other hand, are much acted by the magnetic attractive force of the rotary magnets 24 than the force of the induction electromagnetic field, so that they are turned on the surface of belt 21 half around drum 23. At the position where belt 21 is detached from the surface of drum 23, magnetic attractive force of rotary magnets 24 is lowered, so that steel can 5 are dropped into steel-can receiving section 11.
