Abstract
PURPOSE: To identify vessels from the output signals obtainable from detection coils by allowing the vessels pass in proximity to the detection coils.
CONSTITUTION: When a vessel 1 is inserted in the arrow A direction in detection coils 4, 5 with an automatic hand or the like by the vessel identification command signal and metal pieces 2 come to the inner side of the detection coils 4, 5, an eddy current is induced in the metal pieces 2 and the impedances of the detection coils 4, 5 are changed by this eddy current. Since the eddy current being induced varies with the presence or not of grooves and depth of grooves, the changes in the depth of grooves are detected as changes of the impedances of the detection coils 4, 5 and the marks of binary numbers given to the metal pieces 2 are read.
