Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method of cleaning and dehydrating screening residual discharged from sewage-treatment plants or the like, which comprises the steps of pressurizing the residual of screening, crushing and dehydrating organic matters, then repeating washing of the same with water while keeping the screening residual under unpressurized condition, and at last dehydrating the same under pressure.
CONSTITUTION: At first, screening residual is put into press 1 from hopper 2, and it is pressurized therein by compressing means 4, whereby water contained in the screening residual is removed and sludge, unbroken excrement and other aqueous organic substances contained in the screening residual are broken into pieces. At the time of dehydration, organic substances and others thus crushed are discharged from outlet 3 together with water. Then, the residual is washed with water while keeping the same under unpressurized condition and ejecting water from nozzle 5. The above process of pressurization and dehydration is repeated until a required condition can be obtained, and at last it is dehydrated under pressure. Then, cover 7 is opened to discharge the residual thus washed and dehydrated to the outside of the apparatus.
