Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve performance of ozone generator, it is provided with wick which contacts with inner periphery surface of a dielectric tube and a cooling tube is inserted inside of the dielectric tube, along the axis of the tube so that operating fluid causes to flow toward inner diameter of the dielectric tube.
CONSTITUTION: Wick 16 contacts with an inner surface of an dielectric tube 15 in an ozone tube 12. Therefore, the wick 16 is wholly wet with vaporizing liquid such as water. Silent discharge occurs at an outer surface of the ozone tube 12 and generates heat. The generated heat causes pure water to vaporize from the inner wall surface of the dielectric tube 15. The water vaporization effects cooling of the inner wall. Water vapor condenses on the surface of a cooling tube 18, then waterdrops form and grow to a certain size and fall down as indicated by arrow 22. The fallen waterdeops reach the bottom of the wick 16, then permeate the whole space through strong capillary action of the wick 16. This maintains the wick 16 at a constant wetness. This function as described, i.e., heat pipe action, contributes to an effective and safe internal cooling operation of the ozone tube 12.
