Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect a highly accurate positioning operation thereby to increase the density of a track by making use of the fact that there a preset regularity in the vibrations of the track.
CONSTITUTION: Drive means 30 is supplied with drive signals 103 which are produced by adding such position error signals 102 as are produced by supplying the output pulses containing the position error signals from a head 20 to a position error demodulator 21 to the delay output of signal delay means 41 as shown at 22. Signal delay means 40 delays the signals 103 a time substantially equal to the period of one rotation of a disc. In order that the signal delay time may be equal to the rotating period of a disc 10, the pulses 101 are shaped at 43 and then frequency divided by a clock generator 42 thereby to produce clocks 105 synchronized with the disc rotations. The drive means 30 for moving te head 20 in response to the drive signals 30 is composed of a phase gain compensator 31 and a motor 33 for amplifying the output of the compensator 31, as shown at 32, to drive the head 20.
