Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a tap holder wherein a sleeve and a main shaft are coupled only by inserting the sleeve into the main shaft and slightly turning the sleeve, and the said coupling is easily released only by pulling and turning the socket against the elastic, repulsive force of a coil.
CONSTITUTION: A socket 8 is moved in an axial direction (to a tap 25 side) against elastic, repulsive force of a coil spring 13 so as to release a projection 10 in the socket 8 from a notch section 3 in a main shaft 1. Then, the socket 8 and a sleeve 5 are turned by a fixed angle against the main shaft 1, and a first projection 6 in the sleeve 5 is moved in a circumferential direction in an annular groove 4 of the main shaft so as to position the first projection at the notch section. Next, the sleeve 5 is moved in the axial directin to the tap 25 side so as to release the first projection 6 from the notch section 3. Then, the sleeve 5 is pulled and moved in the axial direction so as to release the sleever 5 from the main shaft 1.
