Abstract

PURPOSE: To make fast a read, and to reduce misreading by attaining the electrochromic display of even read-out numeral in case of bar graph display and by coloring or decoloring the graph according to an increase or decrease of display.
CONSTITUTION: As for the relation between bar-graph display lead-out electrodes O to 20 and lead-out electrodes DO to D4 for numbers O to 4 which correspond to numbers of colored display parts (oblique-line parts), DO and number O, D1 and number 5, D2 and number 10, D3 and number 15, and D4 and number 20 are driven by mutually the same signals, and corresponding numbers are colored or decolored according to an increase or decrease in display amount. In order to drive the display, signal (b) is obtained, whose pulses proportionl to the frequency of signal Sig appear within one cycle of signal clock, by inputting signal Sig, whose frequency varies with, for example, the temperature, blood pressure, etc., to be displayed to the driver circuit and, in consequence, the parallel output of shift registers 25 correspond to the coloring and decoloring of display segments; ripple counter 21, on the other hand, counts pulses, comparator 24 detects the variation in number of pulses, and the change in segment state becomes equivalent to the output of exclusive-OR, so that the desired display will be attained by controlling segments for a bar graph or numbers.
