Abstract

1505106 Reading out electronic counters; displays LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS GmbH 3 June 1975 [25 July 1974] 23883/75 Headings G4D and G4H [Also in Division H3] An electronic counter which is arranged to count pulses for a predetermined period and then be read out and reset, repeatedly, as for instance in a frequency meter, is read out by a multiplexed decoder whereby the digits of the count are displayed successively and the predetermined counting period is chosen equal to or an integral multiple of the period for which each digit is displayed and synchronized with the display of a particular digit. In Fig. 1 the value in counter 8 at the end of a counting period is read rapidly to a memory 9 by shift pulses 18 from a control 7 and thereafter each digit in the memory is successively applied to a decoder and then to the respective digit of the display 11. In the control 7 is a ring counter which provides a set of pulse trains 12-16 which respectively select the individual digits which are displayed for the period of the pulses 12-16. The counter is gated to count for one or more of the periods i.e. for the period 17.
