Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the exposure of a worker to radioactive rays thereby to enhance the working safety by shielding the planar shield, which can be easily brought into and out of an inside inspecting and repairing device, and a shield having a C- shaped cross-section from the radioactive rays from a core spray piping.
CONSTITUTION: Above the outer circumference of a bottomed cylindrical lower shield 20 above a shroud 1 surrounding a core, a shield 42, which has a C-shaped cross-section having an inner size larger than the OD of a core spray piping 3, is mounted to face the piping 3 such that its open side is directed to face the inner wall of the nuclear reactor pressure container.
