Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce flux leakage between side walls of the heads of adjacent salient poles by forming magnetic grooves in opposed side walls of the adjacent poles.
CONSTITUTION: Salient poles 2 are each provided with a head for retaining a winding, and the head is provided on its sides13 facing adjacent poles with grooves 14. Thus, it is possible to reduce leakage of flux between head side walls of adjacent poles for reducing the loss of exciting power and iron loss even in case when the gap between adjacent poles is reduced with size reduction of the revolving electric machine or when the thickness H of the head is increased for increasing the rpm. In addition, air loss and noise can be prevented by filling the grooves 14 with a filler consisting of a non-magnetic material.
