Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate rescue work after accident, by making it possible to easily and quickly release seat belts from passengers through a control mechanism installed at an operator's seat or elsewhere. CONSTITUTION:EAch seat belt 4 is made from fusible material such as nylon fobers. A heater 6 such as nichrome wire is fixed on one side of the belt 4 by a cover cloth 7 made from the same material as the belt. The heaters 6 are coupled to one another through lead wires and connected to a battery 10 through the control mechaism 9, which consists of a switch 11 provided near the operator's seat and an external switch 12 interlocked with the handle of emergency door as of bus and connected in parallel with the former switch 11. When either the switch 11 or the external switch 12 is turned on, the heaters 6 is energized by the battery 10 to heat and melt off the seat belts 4 to release the passengers therefrom.
