Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to monitor the alignment condition of optical fibers easily with a wide field of view and with less fatigue of a worker by arranging a light source and a screen, while interposing the abutting portions of the optical fibers inbetween, so that the abutting portion may be projected in an enlarged scale upon the screen. CONSTITUTION:A light source 4 is so arranged that its irradiating direction faces the abutting portions C of optical fibers 1 and 2. The light source 4 thus arranged is selected to be various lasers, LED and lamp in accordance with the objects concerned. At the opposite side of the light source 4, there is arranged a screen 5 such that they interpose the abutting portions of the fibers 1 and 2 inbetween. If the abutting portins C are irradiated with the light from the light source 4, the portion where the fibers exist is porjected as a shadow in an enlarged scale upon the screen 5. In view of the projected image, the abutting condition can be monitored, and the enlarged projected image can be observed with a wide field of view and with less fatigue of a worker.
