Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain uniform coating of fluorescent material on a glass tube of fluorescent lamp by holding the glass tube by means of contact pieces whose temperature is kept at 20W40°C, thereby preventing separation of the film of fluorescent material from the surface of the galss tube, and at the same time, improving its outer apearance.
CONSTITUTION: In applying coating on the inner surface of a glass tube constituting, for instance, fluorescent lamp or tubular bulb and subsequently drying the same while holding the glass tube firmly in place by use of a suitable means, outer apperance of the glass tube is ofen impaired by uneven drying of coated film 4 that is caused by the temperature difference between glass tube 1 and contact pieces of support arms 2, 2' and support plates 3, 3', which are employed for holding the glass tube 1 firmly in place. In order to dry the coated film uniformly, therefore, temperature of the contact pieces is kept at 20W40°C by supplying cooling air to the surfaces of support arms 2, 2' and support plates 3, 3', whereby the coated film can be dried to a uniform thickness, so that separation of the film can be prevented, and at the same time, its outer appearance can be improved
