Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the voltage change in the changeover transient period by setting up a circuit converting only the bridge half section in which a commutation failure occurs into the control at the control angle of a lagging phase, in a forced commutation converter.
CONSTITUTION: When a commutation failure detector 14 detects commutation failure, its output signal is transmitted to a changeover control logic 13. It 13 immediately switches a changeover gate 12 into the switching position (b) and stores a thyristor U2 which does not receive current. The ignition pulse generated from a pulse amplifier 11 is checked by the changeover into the switching position (b). A thyristor W2 continues applying current (I a). As soon as the control pulse of the control angle +α of a lagging phase corresponding to the thyristor U2 previously stored at the period (t2) rises, the changeover control logic circuit 13 switches the changeover gate 12 into the switching position (c)
