Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the flow rate of exhaust gas flowing through a rotatable catalyst, to prevent dust and sulfate from piling up, and to keep the catalyst at high activity, by reduction of NOx contained in the exhaust combustion gas by use of rotatable, honey-comb-shaped Ti-V catalyst. CONSTITUTION:To NOx-contg. exhaust combustion gas at 300-400 deg.C led 7 into a denitrating unit for exhaust combustion gas is added a suitable amount of reducing gas, e.g., NH3, then the exhaust gas passes through a rotatable catalyst section 2 so that NOx contained in it is reduced to N2. The reduced gas is used for heating the rotatable heat-exchanging element 3, then sent through a exhaust combustion gas outlet 8 to an electric precipitator etc. At that time, the exhaust combustion gas is at 150-200 deg.C. Combustion air at ordinary temp. which is to be block-supplied passes through an air inlet 10 and the element 3, where it is preheatd to nearly 150 deg.C, then preheated to nearly 250 deg.C while passing through the catalyst 2, and is supplied through an air outlet 11 to a boiler burner etc. The catalyst 2 is constituted of a number of catalyst elements C (formed from Ti-V catalyst 15 consisting principally of vanadium oxide and titanium oxide) formed previously into a definite shape and incorporated in a cylinder.
