Abstract

PURPOSE:To inhibit the formation of nitrogen oxide, by reducing nitrogen oxide by catalyzing combustion exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxide with char obtained by carbonizing one portion or the whole of fuel, and by burning and removing by- produced combustible components. CONSTITUTION:One portion of coal is fed to a carbonization furnace 13 by means of a coal feed pipe 15, air by means of an air feed pipe 16 and steam by means of a steam feed pipe 17 respectively. Char formed by carbonization in a fluid layer 14 of the carbonization furnace 13 is taken out from a char feed pipe 19 and supplied to a fluid layer 3. Combustion gas containing mitrogen oxide discharged from a fluid layer 2 is fed to the fluid layer 3 to fluidize char while removing nitrogen oxide in combustion gas. Combustible gases, such as, H2, CO, CH4, etc.are contained in combustion gas discharged from the fluid layer 3, but combustible gases are burnt and removed during the time when the gases rise in a free port 12 by secondary air fed from an air feed pipe 10, and is discharged from an exhaust pipe 23. Thus, the formation of nitrogen oxide can be inhibited.
