Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat waste water at a faster reaction rate by making reaction tanks smaller; minute particle carriers of 100μ or less, to which microorganism adhere, are suspended in waste water, introduced into the inner tank of double reaction tanks, and then put into the outer tank for sedimentation and separation.
CONSTITUTION: Nitrogenated waste water, to which acid 2 and methanol 3 are added, is biologically treated in reaction chamber 7 while agitator 6 is rotated by motor 5. In this case, diatomaceous earth or kaolin (grain size 100μ or less) which sticks microorganisms easily and does not liquate any harmful object, is used as the carriers. The quantity to be used of the carrier grains will be 10-90% or preferably 30-60 capacity % of the virtual cubic volume of the reaction tank capacity. The biologically treated water will be put into settling tank 8 where the carriers are settled, and then passed through sludge blanket layer 9 installed at the bottom where the carriers are separated
