Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily drill with laser a small hole of around 0.2mm in diameter on a part of glasses. CONSTITUTION:Glasses part 1 is fixed on a jig 2, and placed in non-oxidation atmosphere; laser light, generated from a lazer oscillator 3, is collected 4 to be a thin beam and drill a hole in a required position. The location of the hole is done accurately in advance with a microscope; and a laser is applied to this part locally, thus machining a small hole in a fixed place by melting this part. Free-cutting steel easy to be drilled was used for parts of glasses, but inexpensive materials such as Ni- Cr alloy etc. can be used.
