Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover CO in a high yield without forming by-product CO2 by allowing COS to flow through a reactor at a temp. in a predetermined range in a short time and quenching the reaction products.
CONSTITUTION: COS is allowed to react at a temp. of 650W850, pref. 750W850°C, a press of 10W1, pref. 2W1kg/cm2 and a space velocity over 400, pref. over 800ml /ml.hr. The reaction products are quenched to a temp. below 450, pref. below 300°C. By this reaction COS is thermally decomposed into CO and S without forming by-product CO2 to recover CO in a high yield
