Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep each electrolytic cell at an optimal electrolytic performance for a long time, by condensing water vapor formed in each of electrolytic cells combined in series to form condensed water, and by feeding the condensed water to the next electrolytic cell as conc. tritium water.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolytic cell 1 has an anodic chamber 4 and a cathodic chamber 5 equipped with an anodic plate 6 and a cathodic plate 7 respectively, with intervening diaphragm 3. Atoms (or heavy water) including tritium (T) is fed 2 to the cell 1 and is electrolyzed, thereby O2 gas and H2 gas are produced in the chamber 4 and 5 respectively, concentrating raw water and producing water vapor. Then the water vapor is condensed in condensers 9a, 9b to form condensed water in traps 10a, 10b and is fed to the next electrolytic cell as conc. T water. O2 gas and H2 gas are delivered through condensers 9a, 9b and traps 10a, 10b respectively to a reunifying apparatus 11, where it is unified to form a water vapor. The water vapor is condensed 12 and sent to a dil. water storage tank as dil. T water. The process described above is repeated in the electrolytic cells following the cell 1 in the same manner
