Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform measurement of transmission loss by obtaining incident power from the difference between the power of light from a specified light source and the power of light not incident to the optical transmission line by connecting the optical transmission line to the light source and further measuring exit power.
CONSTITUTION: Light of the light source 4 of a light detecting vessel 1 using an integrating sphere is detected with a photo detector 2 and the power P1 of said light is measured. Next, the incident end 5a of an optical transmission line 5 is connected to the light source 4 and the light source 4 is let to emit light. The power P2 of light of this time is likewise measured with the photo detector 2.
