Abstract
PURPOSE:Through blast furnace content, a passage is provided connecting one open end of iron skin to the other end wherein conduits are inserted and then open ends are sealed. Cooling water flows in conduits and effectively cools furnace wall. CONSTITUTION:In case blast furnace cooling slab is partly broken and damage of a water cooling pipe 3a is detected, water supply to the pipe 3a is immediately stopped and blowing is also stopped. The damaged cooling pipe 3a is separated from sound pipes 3b and 3c and removed. A passage 14 connecting iron skin openings 9a to 9b is opened through content 8. A conduit 11a is inserted through the opening 9a via the passage 14 to reach the opening 9b. Similarly, conduits 11b and 11c are installed. Then, a water supply 6, a connecting pipe 13, conduits 11b, 11a and 11c, a connecting pipe 13 and a water outlet 6 are all connected. Mortar is poured through a mortar inlet opening 15 attached to sealing members 10'a to 10'd and filled within the passage 14 to firmly fix the conduits 11a to 11c and fins 12 with mortar C. The process effectively prevents the conduits from damage that may be caused by high temperature gas in furnace.
