Abstract

PURPOSE: Melt-extruded tubes of high-density polyethylene resin, after rapidly cooled on both outside and innerside surfaces, closslinked with ionized radiation and then stretched monoaxially to produce titled films with high transparency, tensile strength and good thermal shrinkage property.
CONSTITUTION: A high-density polyethylene with density of 0.941 or more is extruded from an extruder provided with a ring dice with an inner mandrel that has a mechanism passing cooling water inside the mandrel into tubular films of 10W 1,000 micron thickness and rapidly cooled from both outside and inside directly or indirectly by water running through the inner mandrel and the cooling pipe to a temperature lower than 25°C. Then the film is irradiated with ionized radiation and crosslinked to 20W80% gel fraction and strengthed in at least one direction at a draw ratio of 10W50 in area to produce said high-density polyethylene film with less than 2 haze.
