Abstract

PURPOSE: A viscoelastic blend for vibration damping members having high vibration absorption, heat resistance, and adhesiveness to metals, comprising polyisobutylene, a diolefin hydrocarbon resin, magnesium carbonate or/and calcium carbonate.
CONSTITUTION: 10W82wt% of polyisobutylene is incorporated with 9W45wt% of a diolefin hydrocarbon resin and 9W45wt% of magnesium carbonate or/and calcium carbonate. The addition of a modified butyl rubber improves the oil absorption without degrading the vibration absorption. The blend is used as a middle layer for joining two metal layers in a vibration damping member.
