Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an adsorbent having excellent selective adsorbability for specific metal ions by reacting EGTA and specific polysocyanate in a polar aprotic colvent of more than specific permittivity.
CONSTITUTION: EGTA(ethyleneglycol-bis(2-aminoethylether)-N,N,N',N'-terta-acetic acid) is reacted with the polyisocyanate which is represented by the formula 1 in a polar aprotic solvent of a permittivity of more than 30, e.g., DNF, hexamethylphosphoramide(HMPA), dimethyksulfoxide, etc. The N in the formula is an integer of 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. The polymer obtained from this reaction, having bridged structure by the reacrion of the both terminal groups CO2H of EGTA in its partial portion and branched structure by the reaction of a majority of EGTA component with isocyanate, can easily be isolated in the form of precipitate by the addition of a non-solvent, e.g., water, alcohol, etc. to the reaction system.
