Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol are fed into a system wherein bis-β-hydrosyethyl terephthalate and/or its oligomers (BHET) are present under the reaction rate kept in the range of from 71 to 93, preferably from 73 to 92% and the esterification is conducted at 230W280, preferably 233W272°C under atmospheric pressure while the temperature defference between the heat medium and the reaction system is kept in the range of from 12 to 35, preferably from 18 to 27°C to produce polyethylene terephthalate.
EFFECT: BEHT with good color is obtained and the fluidity is raised bacacuse the content of liquid components is high.
