Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title catalyst obtd. by fixing a cluster cpd. of one or more kinds of metals selected from Rh, Co and Ir to oxide of one or more kinds of the group IIab, IIIab and IVab metals, by which reduction of carbon oxides can be carried out under very mild conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A carbonyl cluster cpd. of the above metals, e.g. Rh4 (CO)12 is dissolved in an inert solvent such as chloroform at a predetermined dilutin ratio. To the soln. is added the above metal oxide such as ZNO and the solvent is removed after impregnation. The resulting material is then heat treated at 50W350, pref. 100W 250°C under a reduced press. of about 10-5W10-1mmHg or under an inert gas atmosphere such as N2 or He to obtain desired catalyst. The amt. of the metal cluster supported on the metal oxide is desirable to be 50W0.0001wt%. Using ths catalyst a mixed gas of CO or CO2 and H2 is reacted under a reduced press. or an elevated press. or an elevated press. up to about 150 atm at 50W450, esp. 100W350°C to capture the reaction products.
