Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high accuracy and stability by supplying a fixed amount of charges at every fixed number of output pulses of a variable frequency oscillator whose oscillation frequency varies in proportional to the changes in the moving coil supporting the weight of the measuring object to the moving coil.
CONSTITUTION: A moving coil 3 inserted into the magnetic gap G between a permanent magnet G and a yoke 2 is connected to a lever 4. The lever 4, links 4, 4' and stanchion C form a balance lever mechanism. A pan 5 on which the measuring object 6 is to be placed is supported on the link 4'. Vertical displacements of the lever 4 are detected with a photoelectrical detector 7, the outputs whereof are applied via amplifier 8 to a variable frequency oscillator 11. Its output frequency is made higher as the left ene of the lever 4 goes lower. The output pulses of the oscillator 11 are applied to a pulse current generator 13. A fixed amount of charges per input pulse is supplied to the movable coil 3 to intensify the electromagnetic force being acting in the coil 3, thereby allowing the left end of the lever 4 to settle in the specified position. The oscillation frequency of the oscillator 11 of this time indicates the weight of the measuring object. A counter 15 counts the output pulses of the oscillator 11 and is reset by the output of a timer 16.
