Abstract

PURPOSE: To coat a web with a coating film having uniform thickness, by applying a coating liquid to a continuously travelling web, blasting the edges of the coating film with gas, and drying the coating liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A web 1 to be coated is introduced to a coating section by a transport roll 2, and coated with coating liquid 4 extruded through an extrusion-type coating head 3 at a coating amount of 10W100 cc/m2. The excessive coating liquid 4 at the edges of the web is spreaded to the center part by air stream at a rate of 20W100 l/min and 2W12 m/sec blasted through air nozzles 5a, 5b, 6a, and 6b. The temperature of the air is 20W150°C. After spreading, the coating liquid is dried with hot air at a temperature of 30W200°C and a velocity of 0.1W30 m/sec.
