Abstract

PURPOSE: To coat coating liquid uniformly on the support to be coated by maintaining the quantity of jetting from gas nozzles of a roll that holds the support to be coated without contact at a fixed quantity that can absorb the change in amount of floating of the support due to external disturbance.
CONSTITUTION: In a method in which a face opposite to the face to be coated of a support 2 is held without contact by a roll 12 that has plural gas nozzles 10 and coating is applied by a coating machine 1' to form a coated layer 11 on the support 2 while moving it continuously, the radius of curvature is made to 30W200mm, and the ratio of total area of gas nozzles 10 to the area of curved surface of the roll 12 is made to ≤0.1%. Further, the ratio of diameter (d) to the length l of the nozzle is made to ≤0.1, and the distance between the surface of roll 6' and the surface of roll 12 of the entrance side of the support is made to ≤100mm. By this way, change in amount of floating of the support 2 is prevented and the coating liquid can be coated uniformly on the support 2.
