Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the performance of an engine, by locating a free piston so that it will face an oil chamber formed between a No. 1 piston and a No. 2 piston and by obtaining a valve timing, which is most suitable for an operation condition, as a result of regulating a moving distance of the piston.
CONSTITUTION: An another sliding hole 12 is perforated in an engine proper 1, and a free piston 13 is slidably inserted. A chamber 14 formed at a head side of the free piston 13 is connected with an oil chamber 6 through the medium of a passage 15. A stopper 16 is also slidably inserted in the sliding hole 12, and a spring 17 is located between a concave part of the piston 13 and the stopper 16. Each stopper 16 is regulated by a cum 21 configured in a single control bar 20. And thus, a position of the stopper 16 is decided corresponding to a position of the control bar 20 or regulated according to a rotative speed of the engine, and a stroke of the free piston 13 is controlled. As a result a valve timing and a lift distance, which correspond to the rotative speed of the engine, can be obtained.
