Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an electromagnetic clutch wherein an exciter is internally provided in one of two floating pulleys fitted in a housing, and another pulley is connected through a suction plate to a leaf spring and through a plate to a shaft, thereby to unnecessitate to arrange a driving source and the pulleys on the same plane. CONSTITUTION:A pulley B9 rotates by a driving source, and a current is caused to flow through an exciting coil 11, whereby a magnetic circuit passing through the pulley B9, a suction plate 8, and a core 12 is constituted to adsorb the suction plate 8 to the friction surface 9a of the pulley B9. The rotation of the pulley B9 is transmitted through the leaf spring 7 to a pulley A6, and also transmitted to a driven device connected to the pulley A6. Further, when a shaft 1 is driven, the rotary movement of the shaft 1 can be transmitted to the pulley A6 and the driven device. Upon this occasion, when the current to the exciting coil 11 is disconnected, the suction plate 8 is separated from the pulley B9, and therefore the rotation of the pulley A6 is not transmitted to the pulley B9 but the pulley B9 is left stopping.
