Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title film having improved transparency and strength, by specifying boiling xylene insoluble gel content and a melt index of a composition consisting of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymre, a thermoplastic elastomer, and a specific high polymer.
CONSTITUTION: 100 parts by wt. of a composition consisting of A) 95W10 wt.% of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having 3W30 wt.% of vinyl cetate group and a melt index of 0.2W10 and B) 5W90 wt.% of a thremoplastic elastomer made of an α-olefin copolymer having a melt imdex of 0.2W6 are blended with C) 5W 200 parts by wt. of a homopolymer or a mixed polymer of crystalline polypropylene, high-density polyethylene, or polybutene-1 to give a molten blend. The blend is extruded guenched, and set to make a raw tubular film, which is irradiated with high energy rays so that it has boiling xylene insoluble gel content not more than 60 wt.% and a melt index not more than 10. The film is heated up to not more than 110°C and air is blown into the film at a normal temperatureW100°C so that the film is highly orientated at an area draw ratio of 5W30:1 and at a cross direction draw ratio of 2W7:1.
