Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption as well as to increase the life time for the non-electrode type discharge lamp without impairing the interchangeability with the conventional incandescent lamp by adhering the oscillator main body containing the oscillation coil to generate the high-frequency electromagnetci field to the base in a body.
CONSTITUTION: Non-electrode type discharge lamp 4 contains phosphor 12 coated on the inner surface, and the inactive gas such as argon or the like as well as the metal gas like mercury, etc. which are excited by the high-frequency electromagnetic field and thus gives light emission to phosphor 12 are enclosed inside bulb 6. Oscillation coil 10 produces the high-frequency electromagnetic field within bulb 6, and oscillator main body 11 is adhered to base 5 in a body. Thus, the non-electrode type discharge lamp featuring the above mentioned constitution is used as the light source electric lamp and thus can be formed into the similar shape and size to the conventional incandescent lamp. Furthermore, the interchangeability is never impaired with the conventional incandescent lamp since the conventional base is used.
