Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable three-dimensional volume inspection of the portions of intricate shapes such as nozzle corner parts to be performed without slewing the probe by mounting a plurality of piezoelectric element groups to a rotatable shoe and transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves through the stationary shoe provided on the outer side of the rotary shoe.
CONSTITUTION: An electron scanning ultrasonic probe has a rotor 2 which is rotatable to a stationary shoe 1 of cylindrical shape in section. The rotor 2 is provided with a rotary shoe 3 and piezoelectric vibration elements 4. The piezoelectric vibrating elements 4 are arrayed respectively in a plurality in the rotating axis direction of the rotor 2 on both sides of plate form sound shield materials 5 provided by being bisected in the rotating axis direction, and on the inner side of the rotary shoe 3. One of the arrays is for transmission and the other for receiving. When the probe is placed above the surface to be scanned 9 and a voltage is applied simultaneously to all the piezoelectric elements 4, ultrasonic beams propagate in the direction of 10. When the voltage is subsequently applied to the piezoelectric elements 4 in the direction from the left to the right or subsequently from the right to the left, the ultrasonic beams propagate in the direction of 11 or 12. In this way, the ultrasonic beams are scanned in fan shape by the one dimensional configuration of the piezoelectric elements 4.
