Abstract
PURPOSE: To profitably manufacture the above high purity product industrially, by electrolytically condensing adipic acid monomethylester obtained by semi-esterification of adipic acid with methanol in methanol solution containing alkali metal of adipic acid monomethylester and next, treating reaction product in a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: The adipic acid monomethylester (A) obtained by semi-esterification of adipic acid with methanol, is electrolytically condensed in the electrolytic bath 11 in methanol solution containing alkali metal salt of the above ester. A part of electrolyte containing the formed sebacic acid dimethylester (B), is sent to the distilling column 12 and methanol is distilled out and then, the residue is sent to the decanter 15 after stirring with water 14 in the mixer 13. Oil layer containing A and B is sent to the anion exchange resin column 16 from the upper part of the decanter 15 and A is adsorbed by th above resin and then, B is extracted from th lower part of the column and moreover, is distilled. Methanol from the column 12 is sent to the lower part of the column 16 and adsorbed A is recovered and then, methanol is circulatd to the electrolyte tank 10. distilled B is hydrolyzed and sebacic acid is obtained.
