Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the welding arc to be deflected by an extremely simple constitution, by rotating the cylindrical part, made of ferromagnetic material being provided with the longitudinal slit, installed at the outer circumference of the tip of the welding torch.
CONSTITUTION: The cylindrical part 7, made of ferromagnetic material being provided with the longitudinal slit 8, is installed nearby the tip of the welding electrode 1. The welding electrode 1 is fed by the unillustrated motor, for carrying out the arc welding of materials 2, 2', to be welded. The welding torch is formed into a double tube consisting of the outer shell 9 and the wire feeding tube 10 passing through the outer shell 9; the shielding gas is introduced into the space between above tube 10 and the shell 9 through the shielding gas conduit tube 11; thus introduced shielding gas is injected from the several small holes 12. The cylindrical part 7, made of ferromagnetic material, also plays the gas shielding nozzle for surrounding the tip of the welding torch; the gas injected from above small holes 12 spouts from the lower end of the cylindrical part 7 to the materials 2, 2', to be welded. Above cylindrical part 7 is rotated by the motor 15 through gears 13, 14, and the direction of deflection of the arc is altered.
