Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a vulcanizable hot-melt adhesive having improved high- temperature bond strength, by adding a multivalent metallic oxide, phenolic resin, and a rubber-like polymer to a liquid polychloroprene having carboxyl groups.
CONSTITUTION: A) A liquid polychloroprene having one or more carboxyl groups in a molecule, a number average molecular weight of 2,000W8,000, and not less than 50 wt. % of a chloroprene monomer unit is blended with B) a multivalent metallic oxide, e.g., magnesuim oxide, C) a thermoplastic phenolic resin having a softening point of 80W180°C, and D) a rubber-like polymer, e.g., thermoplastic urethane rubber to give the desired adhesive. A weight ratio of the ingredient A) to D) is 70W95:5W30. Amounts of the ingredient B) and C) are 1W30 and 50W150 parts by wt. based on 100 parts by wt. of a sum of A) and D) respectively. A gel content of the adhesive is 5W45 wt. % measured by using toluene at 25°C.
