Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thick-wall foam efficiently with a small amount of a blowing agent, by pressurizing the mold cavity and by prolonging the injection molding time to utilize the blowing action of the agent. CONSTITUTION:The mold units 17 and 22 are clamped by the clamping unit 26 with a small force within a clamping coefficient of 10-40. A pressurized gas is fed to pressurize the cavity 23. A molten synthetic resin material containing 0.05- 5 wt.% of a blowing agent is injected from the cylinder 31 for 3 see or longer, preferably 5-20 sec. The pressurized gas is released from the cavity 23 during the injection, and a molded article is cooled to give a thick-wall foam having an average thickness of 3.5-100 mm.
