Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a beam bulb from being cracked by heat shock in the manufacturing process, by increasing the thickness of the central part of a glass lens to raise the heat capacity of the part to lower the heating temperature thereof and decreaseing the thickness of the peripheral part of the lens to raise the heating temperatue of the part.
CONSTITUTION: A hexagonal window section 21a is provided in the central part 21 of the curved lens 20 of about 110 mm in maximum diameter, about 15 mm in height and about 4 mm in thickness. Fine projections are provided on the surface of the window section. Numerous concave lens elements 23 are provided around the window section. A sealed-up step section 24 is provided around the lens elements. An infrared ray interception film 25 is coated on the inside surface of the lens 20. The inside surfaces of the lens elements 23 are roughened to minutely diffuse light. Although the diffusion angle is enlarged, the depth of the lens elements 23 can be limited at 0.8 mm or less.
