Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording body suitable for high density recording by forming a sheet with a spinodal decomposing structure composed of Cr-Co-Fe at a specified thickness and quenching the sheet with the cooling surface thereof contacting a fusing liquid, followed by aging. CONSTITUTION:A sheet with a spinodal decomposing structure is formed at a thickness of 0.5 to 50mu with a composition of 10 to 35% Cr by weight, 10-35% Co and 30-80% Fe or additionally containing 0.1 to 5% of more than one kind of Mo, Nb, Si and B. The alloy thus made is quenched at a cooling rate of 10<3> deg.C/sec with the cooling surface thereof contacting a fusing liquid. Then, aging is applied to the sheet in the magnetic field to produce a recording body. For example, a sheet 5 is formed through an extremely quick cooling by spraying a fusing liquid A to a copper roll 4 rotating at a high speed. After undergoing a calendar roll, it is subjected to aging in the magnetic field at 640 deg.C for 25 minutes by applying an external magnetic field of 2000 Oe. Thereafter, following aging at 580 deg.C for 2 hours, a magnetic tape is yielded.
