Abstract
PURPOSE: To hold an effective firing and quick combustion although the engine is operated with rarefied gas or under a high exhaust reflux by forming a combustion chamber with a space of rotation body such as a ball on the upper surface of piston to make a strong spiral flow at the ignition.
CONSTITUTION: The igniter 10 is mounted on the cylinder head 4 on approaching to the center O as near as possible, the aspiration and exhaust ports 18, 16 are provided to the eccentric positions from the combustion chamber center. Also the ceiling 8 of cylinder head and upper surface of the combustion chamber 6, to which the aspiration and exhaust valves 14, 22 are attached, are of a spherical surface of the radius R which is a part of the rotation body the axis of which is the central line 1 of cylinder, the upper surface 34 of piston 32 is made in the form of a part of the spherical surface or the plane such that it is approximately equal to the ceiling 8 of cylinder head 4, and in its central part, the ball-wise concave 36 the center of which is O is formed.
