Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for phase matching and make the alignment of heads easy by using an azimuth head for one of information track and pilot track and using a parallel head for the other and detecting tracking deviation from the phase difference of the repdoduction output thereof. CONSTITUTION:A first azimuth magnetic head 2 for video reproduction 2 is provided for the video track of a magnetic tape 1 and a second parallel magnetic head 3 for the control track. The first head 2 is moved vertically by the rotation of a screw bar 6 by a motor 5. The repeoduction video signal of the head 2 is led via amplifier and filter to a phase difference detector 11 so that the tracking deviation signal proportional to the position difference from the video signal of the second head 3 is outputted. This signal is inputted to a servo motor 12 which constitutes a closed loop with the motor 5, whereby the tracking deviations are eliminated. On the other hand, the output of the second head 3 is applied to a jitter detector 14, whose output is then applied as the control signal to a variable delay circuit 15, by which the phase change produced in the video signal is so controlled as to be offset and the jitter of the video signal is corrected.
