Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent absorbed gas or vapor of organic adhesive from being adhered to filament of a bulb by holding the filament temperature during evacuating step higher than the bulb temperature.
CONSTITUTION: An evaculating tube 12 of a bulb 1 is inserted into an evacuating head 4 to be airtightly held so as to thus evacuate the bulb 2. Lead wires 11a, 11b and 9a, 9b are contacted to close a switch 8 of a power supply 7 to thereby energize a filament 13 so as to heat it at approx. 600°C. The bulb 2 is evacuated while heating it to approx. 380°C via a heating furnace 6 to discharge absorbed gas from bulb inner wall, sealer, mount 3, etc. to discharge the gas out of the bulb 2. After degassing, the bulb 1 is exhausted from the furnace 6. The filament 13 is then deenergized to fill gas in the bulb 2 and to then seal the tube 12 so as to thus complete the evacuating work. Thus, it can prevent embrittlement of the filament 13 to thereby obtain a bulb of long life.
