Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound useful as biochemical reagents, medicines, and intermediates for their synthesis, by sulfating nucleoside with inexpensive and easily handleable specific sulfating agent and solvent.
CONSTITUTION: One mole of a nucleoside, e.g. a denosine or guanosine, is reacted with 5W15 moles of a pyrosulfate, a hydrogensulfate and/or sulfuric acid in 120W 200 moles of an amide solvent to give a nucleoside sulfate. Preferably, formamide or DMF may be used as the amide solvent; potassium pyrosulfate, as the sulfating agent.
USE: Intermediates for the synthesis of antiprotozoan agents or carcinostatics, capable of stabilizing an unstable medicine, e.g. S-adenosyl-L-methionine, by forming a complex with it.
