Abstract

PURPOSE: To discriminate a sound with high precision without cutting off a high- band component by decreasing the frequency of the high-band component of an input sound signal divided into the high-band component and low-band component and then by transmitting the signal with both the components shifted in terms of time.
CONSTITUTION: At the transmitting side, an input sound signal is passed through low-pass filter 2 of less than 3.4KHz and band-pass filter 3 of 3.4 to 6.5KHz. The frequency of the sound signal from filter 3 is decreased by 3.1KHz by frequency converter 4, the signal of which is delayed by (t) seconds (approximate 300m seconds) by delay circuit 5. Then, the outputs of filters 2 and 3 are both mixed 6 to obtain output signal 7. At the receiving side, on the other hand, the input signal is processed through the reverse operation (delay and frequency addition) of the transmission so as to obtain a sound output.
